VINEYARDS
A unique landscape
that inspires
and motivates us
With a clear idea of the wines he desired, Raül Bobet found the Castell d’Encus estate to be the ideal place to fulfil his wishes. A project that started from scratch, meticulously designing each and every one of the smallest details necessary to obtain a unique grape and thus produce the wines he dreamed of.
The vineyards are grouped in three different sites in the Pallars region with significantly different climates. The estates occupy a total area of 120 ha, 29 of which are under vines.
We seek height and orientation to achieve fresh, tense wines with a lively and sparkling acidity, without renouncing quality ripening so that the varietal character shines through.
As important as the grape varieties are their massal selections. In this sense, the design of the estate is conceived to seek the maximum quality and uniqueness that grants a recognisable identity to the wines of our cellar.
The quality of the grape is essential in the production of a great wine and that is why the efforts dedicated to the vineyard are fundamental.
The vineyard is managed according to the principles of organic viticulture, with the concept of sustainability that the winery has always pursued.

Castell d’Encus
The estate that gives its name to the project, classified as a microreserve, has a total of 93 hectares in a privileged location, between 800 and 950 metres above sea level, where exceptional wines are produced.
The soils are generally calcareous loam of marine origin, with poor organic matter content.
Yields are low, always aiming for the highest possible quality of grape.
We find varieties such as Riesling, Albariño, Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, Pinot Noir, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Grenache Noir.
This estate houses the remains of the old village of Castell d’Encús and the traces of the Hospitaller monks who lived there in the 12th century. We find the nine stone vats from that period, which are still used today to ferment some of the Castell d’Encus wines, in the open air and in wild conditions.

Santa Engràcia
The Santa Engràcia vineyards are located at an altitude of 1.000 metres above sea level, in an idyllic spot at the end of the valley between the villages of Talarn and Salàs de Pallars. Its orientation and altitude, as well as the special microclimate of this zone, make it a strategic location for the winery, as it lends a special uniqueness to the Castell d’Encus wines.
The varieties grown are: Riesling, Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc, Pinot Noir, Syrah, Cabernet Franc and Grenache Noir.
Astell
The last of the vines planted at a spectacular location in Vall Fosca at an altitude of 1.230m, on Pyrenean slate soil and facing east, is particularly noteworthy. It is a vineyard of Riesling and Pinot Noir, of very low production that has a great experimental interest and an enormous potential to produce unique wines.
A vineyard at the limit, a challenge, and a risky bet for Raül Bobet with the idea of searching for excellence and exceptionality in a land he loves: Pallars, the Pyrenees.
